After an unforgettable first trip, I'm heading back to South Korea. Here's what I can't wait to rediscover and the new experiences awaiting me.

Going Back to South Korea

In just a few weeks, I'll be flying back to South Korea. After an incredible first trip where I explored Seoul, Busan, Sokcho, and Gyeongju, I loved this country so much that I'm going back!

Why go back?

What I loved the first time

During my first stay, I was struck by:

  • Gastronomy: kimchi, bibimbap, samgyeopsal... every meal was a discovery
  • History: Seoul's royal palaces, Gyeongju's temples, traditional architecture
  • Landscapes: Sokcho's mountains, Busan's beaches, Seoul's modernity
  • Hospitality: the kindness of Koreans and their curiosity towards visitors

K-pop and cinema influence

Korea's soft power is impressive. Korean cinema (Parasite, Oldboy) and K-pop have conquered the world, and experiencing this culture firsthand is a unique experience.

What I can't wait to (re)discover

Seoul's neighborhoods

This time, I want to explore more deeply:

  1. Gangnam - The modern and trendy district
  2. Hongdae - Artistic atmosphere and nightlife
  3. Insadong - Traditional neighborhood with galleries and tea houses
  4. Myeongdong - Shopping and cosmetics paradise
  5. Bukchon Hanok Village - Traditional Korean houses

The food

I plan to taste everything! Street food, traditional restaurants, Korean BBQ... My stomach is ready.

My must-try dishes list

  • Samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly)
  • Chimaek (fried chicken + beer)
  • Bingsu (shaved ice dessert)
  • Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles)
  • Hotteok (sweet pancakes)
  • Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes)
  • Kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew)

Historical sites

  • Gyeongbokgung - The main royal palace
  • Changdeokgung - UNESCO World Heritage site
  • Jogyesa Temple - Seoul's main Buddhist temple

Korean tech scene

As a developer, I'm particularly curious to discover the Korean tech ecosystem. Seoul is one of the most connected cities in the world, with impressive 5G infrastructure.

Relive my first trip

Want to see what my first trip to Korea looked like? I documented the entire adventure on Pixora with photos from Seoul, Busan, Sokcho, and Gyeongju.

See you soon

This second trip will be an opportunity to deepen my discovery of this incredible country. I can't wait to experience Korea's unique atmosphere again and share this new adventure with you.

다음에 봐요! (See you soon!)
